Move a Dining Room and Tables to Another Floor Plan Layout

If you currently have all tables in one floor plan layout and would like to move them to another, you can do so through the Dining Rooms & Tables settings.

How to move a dining room with tables to another floor plan layout

  1. Open Dining Rooms & Tables Settings:
    https://admin.tablein.com/settings/table-settings/dining-areas
  2. Open the floor plan layout where the dining room is currently located.
  3. Select the dining room you want to move and click Edit.
  4. At the top of the page, find the Floor Plan Layout field.
  5. Select the destination layout from the dropdown menu and click Save.

If the destination layout does not exist yet, create a new floor plan layout first. Unused layouts can be deleted from the floor plan layout list.

Note: If you are using Floor Plans, moved tables must be removed from the floor plan and added again after the move. This will update their placement in the new dining room or floor plan layout.

Move tables between dining rooms

After moving the dining room, open the destination layout and review the table order if necessary.

To move a table to a different dining room:

  1. Open the table you want to edit.
  2. Find the Dining Room field.
  3. Select the dining room where the table should be assigned.
  4. Save your changes.

Dining rooms are displayed using the following format: Floor Plan Layout Name → Dining Room Name

Note: If you are using Floor Plans, moved tables must be removed from the floor plan and added again after the move. This will update their placement in the new dining room or floor plan layout.

Move a Table Between Floor Plans Using Floor Plan View

If you are using Floor Plans, tables can be moved from one dining room or floor plan to another directly from the floor plan editor.

Move a table to another floor plan

  1. Open Floor Plan Editing.
  2. Click on the table you want to move.
  3. A small menu will appear next to the table.
  4. Click the X icon to remove the table from the current floor plan.
  5. Click the Pencil icon to edit the table.
  6. In the table settings window, find the Dining Room dropdown.
  7. Select the destination dining room - Dining rooms are displayed in the following format: Floor Plan Layout Name: Dining Room Name
  8. Click Save.

The table will now be assigned to the new dining room and removed from the current floor plan.

Add the table to the new floor plan

  1. Switch to the destination floor plan layout.
  2. Expand the dining room where the table was moved.
  3. Locate the table in the list of available tables.
  4. Add the table to the floor plan.
  5. Position the table as needed and save your changes.

Note: Removing a table from the floor plan only removes it from the visual layout. The table itself remains active and can be reassigned to another dining room or floor plan.

Important notes

  • Tables with upcoming reservations cannot be deleted.
  • To delete a dining room, you must first move all tables to another dining room or delete them.
  • Once a dining room contains no tables, it can be deleted.
