Why Guest Reviews Matter

Unlike public review platforms, Tablein’s feedback system is completely internal and private to your business by default. Every review is securely tied to a real booking, meaning there are no anonymous comments.

When a guest leaves a review, you see their exact details: who they are, the date and time they visited, and exactly which table they were seated at. This transparency allows you to investigate specific situations directly with your staff, reward your team for great service, or immediately resolve any issues privately before they hit public forums.

1. Where to Find Your Reviews

All reviews collected across your Tablein system are centralized in your database. You can access them directly by navigating to: Database -> Reviews list.

2. How Reviews Work & Configuration

Tablein automatically reaches out to your guests to collect valuable insights about their dining experience.

      • When are reviews sent? Feedback request emails are sent the day after a reservation, provided the reservation status was marked as "Seated".
      • Enabling/Disabling Reviews: You can turn this feature on or off by navigating to your Feedback Settings
      • Toggle the option “Send feedback request email to a guest”
      • To ensure you get actionable feedback when a guest is unhappy, you can force them to leave a written comment if their score drops below a certain threshold. In your Feedback Settings, turn on “Require to leave comment”. Select your minimum Average Score threshold.

Example: If you set the threshold to 5 stars, a guest leaving a perfect 10-star review can submit it without writing anything. However, a guest leaving a 1-star review will be required to type out an explanation for their low rating before submitting.

3. Setup Email Notifications for New Reviews

If you want to be notified the moment a guest completes a review, you can set up email alerts:

  1. Open your Email Settings.
  2. Locate the field for Received Feedback Email.
  3. Enter your email address. If you want multiple team members or managers to receive these alerts, simply add multiple email addresses separated by a comma (e.g., manager@restaurant.com, owner@restaurant.com).

4. Publishing Reviews to Your Public Tablein Page

While reviews are internal by default, you can choose to display them publicly on your public Tablein profile page to attract new diners. By default, the system automatically sorts and displays your best comments first.

To enable and customize your public review section:

  1. Open your Restaurant Profile settings.
  2. Make your page look professional and appealing by uploading high-quality images, writing a compelling restaurant description, and selecting your key features.
  3. Scroll to the very bottom of the page to find the "Show reviews section" setting.
Toggle it On to publish your reviews, or Off to keep them strictly internal.

5. Sorting and Customizing Your Reviews List

By default, your reviews are sorted from newest to oldest in your internal dashboard. You can completely customize this view:

  • Sorting: Click on any column header to sort the data by that specific metric (e.g., Guest Name, Reservation Date, Average Score, or individual category scores like Food, Service, Ambience, and Cleanliness).
  • Rearranging & Hiding Columns: Click the "Columns" icon at the top right of the table. From here, you can drag to change the column order or uncheck boxes to hide information you don't need to see.

6. Filtering and Searching for Reviews

Advanced Filtering

Click the Filter button to narrow down your list using highly specific criteria:

  • Dates: Filter by the date the review was submitted, or the date the original reservation took place.
  • Ratings: Filter by total average score (e.g., viewing only scores between 8–10, or critical scores between 1–3).
  • Category Scores: Drill down into specific ratings for Food, Service, Ambience, or Cleanliness.
  • Guest Tags: Filter reviews left by guests carrying specific tags (e.g., "VIP", "Regular").
  • Comments: Filter to see All Reviews, Only reviews with comments, or Only reviews without comments.

Searching for a Specific Guest's History

If you want to view the entire feedback history for a single guest, you have two options:

  1. Search Field: Type the guest's name directly into the search bar on the reviews page.
  2. Guestbook: Find the guest in your Guestbook, open their profile, and view their complete feedback history from there.
