Widget fields settings guide

Widget Fields allow you to collect valuable information from your guests during the booking process (e.g., dietary restrictions, gift vouchers, or special requests). Enabling these fields helps you gather personalized details to seamlessly prepare for your guests' arrival and improve their dining experience.

To update these settings, navigate to Online Reservations > Widget Fields in your Tablein dashboard.

Note: Fields, tags, and checkboxes will only appear on your public booking widget if they are toggled ON in your settings.

Available Widget Field Options

Food Intolerance & Allergies

  • How it works: Displays a Yes/No selection on your widget. If a guest selects "Yes", a dynamic text field appears allowing them to type out their specific allergies or intolerances.

  • Requirement Rule: You can make this a mandatory selection for all guests by checking the Required box.

Wine Pairing

  • How it works: Displays a quick preference selection on the widget where guests can choose between three options: Yes, No, or Partly.

Do You Have a Gift Voucher?

  • How it works: Displays a Yes/No option on the widget. Selecting "Yes" opens an additional text field where guests can input their voucher number or details.

Special Occasion Field

  • How it works: Displays a Yes/No prompt. If the guest selects "Yes", a text field expands so they can specify the occasion (e.g., Birthday, Anniversary).

Postcode

  • How it works: Adds a text field for guests to input their postal/zip code. Useful for regional tracking or marketing insights.

Company Name

  • How it works: Toggles a text field on or off, allowing corporate clients to provide their company name during the booking process.

Comment Field

  • How it works: Provides a general text box at the end of the booking process for guests to leave custom notes or requests. If you prefer to streamline the booking flow and prevent custom comments, you can toggle this completely off.

Reservation Tags & Dietary Requirements

Tags give guests an easy, one-click way to choose their preferences without typing. If no tags are selected in a category, that entire section will remain hidden on your widget.

Standard System Tags

Select from our pre-made system tags (e.g., With Kids, Highchair, With Pet, Wheelchair Access) to make them visible to guests as clickable buttons.

Custom Reservation Tags

Activate unique tags that you have created specifically for your restaurant (e.g., Invoice needed).

  • How to add more: To create or edit your custom tags, please visit Calendar and List > Tag Management. Once saved there, they will automatically appear in your Widget Fields list to be activated.

Dietary Requirements

Select preset dietary options (e.g., Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten-Free) for guests to choose from on the widget.

Newsletter Subscription Settings

You can customize the newsletter signup behavior at the final step of the reservation flow, or disable it entirely if you do not collect marketing subscriptions.

  • Pre-selected Message Options: We provide standard, optimized text options for the newsletter checkbox line.

  • Custom Messaging: If you want to use your own custom text (or offer incentives like "Subscribe and receive a 15% discount"), select Custom Message from the dropdown and type your text. If your widget supports multiple languages, make sure to add the translation for each active language.

  • Disabling Newsletters: If you do not wish to show a subscription checkbox to guests, simply turn the Newsletter Checkbox toggle off.

Here is the polished help section for the Booking Type feature, written to be clear, professional, and easy for restaurant managers to understand.

Booking Type

Choose whether your widget allocates reservations based on the number of dining guests or the number of sunbeds.

  • Number of Guests (Default): Keep this selected if you operate a standard restaurant with traditional tables and seats.

  • Sunbeds: Select this if you are managing a beach club, pool area, or resort lounge where guests book specific sunbed capacities instead of dining seats.

⚠️ Important Note: You can only select one booking type per widget. The system does not support a combination of both guest counts and sunbed selections on the same public widget. If you need to offer both, please contact support to discuss setting up separate widgets.
